Sebring to Tampa, Orlando, or Fort Myers: What Each Lane Actually Costs
Highlands County sits inland, and when Sebring needs a bigger airport, a specialist, or a mall that opens past six, people drive to Tampa, Orlando, or Fort Myers. When a household move covers one of those distances instead of a county line, the pricing stops being pure hourly time and becomes a lane calculation.
We run all three lanes regularly from our base at 603 Avocado St in Sebring — and none of them touches a toll road. Here is what each looks like from the driver’s seat, and what actually moves the price on each.
How an intercity move gets priced
Four things set the number: how much stuff is riding, how long the drive is there and back, how many hands the load needs, and what the destination asks of the crew. A ground-floor ranch with the truck in the driveway is the cheapest version of any lane. A third-floor walk-up with a half-block carry is not.
As a shape, not a promise: a one-bedroom run on one of these lanes typically lands between $500 and $900, and a full three-bedroom household usually runs $1,100–$2,200. Those are ranges typical for this market in 2026 — your written estimate is the number that matters.
The state of the boxes matters more than people expect. A household that arrives packed to the ceiling in labeled boxes turns into a fast, cheap load; a household that is “mostly packed” — meaning nothing is packed — turns the same lane into a two-day conversation. If you are somewhere in the middle, say so honestly when you book, and the estimate will reflect the real version of the day.
The Tampa lane
Tampa is the longest of the three at roughly 95 miles, about an hour and forty-five minutes. The run heads west on SR-64 through Wauchula country, then over to I-4 for the final stretch into the city.
What the lane asks of the crew: parking for a full-size truck, condo elevators that need reserving, certificates of insurance for the building, and gate codes in the older neighborhoods south of downtown. None of it is hard — it just has to be arranged before the truck leaves Sebring. Our Tampa movers page covers the lane in more detail.
Two timing notes on this lane: leaving Sebring by 8 a.m. puts the unload into Tampa before the afternoon builds, and if your destination is a condo, the elevator reservation is the piece that rules the day — book it as soon as the moving date is real.
The Orlando lane
Orlando is the shortest drive at about 80 miles: US-27 north past Frostproof, then I-4 east. Call it an hour and a half if you leave before the I-4 rush hour does.
What the lane asks: apartment complexes with stairs, load volume that decides whether one crew or two is smarter, and somewhere legal for the truck to stand. Condo towers near the parks bring elevator reservations into the plan. The details live on our Orlando movers page.
The Orlando end is where volume matters most: a one-bedroom apartment and a four-bedroom house in Winter Garden ride the same road but make different days, and the estimate is where that gets sorted out — before the truck moves, not during it.
The Fort Myers lane
Fort Myers runs about 90 miles: SR-70 west through Arcadia, then SR-80 the rest of the way in. Around an hour and fifty minutes, and the drive is the quietest of the three — cattle country, citrus, and a two-lane rhythm for most of it.
What the lane asks: gated communities with long driveways, and garages that hold a second household’s worth of lawn and fishing gear. June through November, hurricane season argues for a backup date on any coastal delivery. More on the Fort Myers movers page.
In season — roughly January through March — the coastal end of this route runs busier with snowbird traffic while the inland stretch stays quiet. It rarely changes the clock by more than fifteen minutes, but it is one more reason we like a morning start on this lane.
The three lanes side by side
| Lane | Miles | Drive time | What moves the price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sebring → Tampa | ~95 | ~1 h 45 min | Condo elevators, COI paperwork, downtown parking |
| Sebring → Orlando | ~80 | ~1 h 30 min | Walk-up apartments, load volume, truck parking |
| Sebring → Fort Myers | ~90 | ~1 h 50 min | Gate communities, long driveways, hurricane-season dates |
One fact that surprises people used to city driving: none of these lanes touches a toll road. The Florida toll corridors stay well north and east of us.
Same-day is the normal shape of the day
Because all three lanes sit under two hours from Sebring, same-day is how these moves usually run: load in the morning, drive, unload by late afternoon, sleep in your own bed. What breaks same-day is a late start, an elevator that slipped, or a destination that eats hours — which is why we confirm building logistics the day before.
If the date collapsed on you and the truck is needed tomorrow, that is our last minute movers territory — it happens more often than you would think, and the earlier in the day you call, the more we can usually do.
Frequently asked questions
Do you charge for the drive between Sebring and Tampa?
The lane price accounts for drive time in both directions. The written estimate shows exactly how the day’s hours are counted before you commit to anything.
Are there tolls on the way to Orlando or Fort Myers?
No. US-27, SR-70, SR-64, and the I-4 and SR-80 stretches we use are all toll-free on these routes.
Can a same-day move to Orlando really happen?
Usually, yes — it is under two hours each way. A morning start and a destination ready for the truck are the two things that keep it on schedule.
I only have a few boxes, not a full house. Is this still a fit?
Yes. Small loads and single-room deliveries run on these lanes all the time; the pricing simply follows the smaller scope.
Whichever lane you are looking at, the fastest way to a real number is a real conversation. Request a free estimate and we will map your route, your dates, and the full price in writing.
